TONIGHT IS WHAT IT MEANS TO (PRETEND TO) BE YOUNG...
To be fair, as a massive fan of the late Jim Steinman, I knew I would love this before going. It didn't disappoint. Really well staged, great cast with some brilliant singing that was able to handle even the most demanding songs. Particular shout out to "Valkyrie" (Kellie Gnauck?) and her stunning rendition of "Objects in the Rear View Mirror". I saw Meat live when he was touring "Bat 2" and he was struggling a bit by then, so it was amazing to hear the music brought so vividly to life. The plot was secondary - basically JS's long-standing fascination with Peter Pan - but the subplot of the middle aged parents rediscovering their love and their youth while parenting a teenager frankly worked well given the demographic of the audience.

FABULOUS
Have now seen this show 4 times and yesterday did not fail to disappoint. Fabulous music with both singers and orchestra doing brilliant job. We travel from Nottingham to London to see it and could sit through it again and again

BAT OUT OF HELL MUSICAL
Loved the show but the playhouse in Edinburgh was disappointing as not allowed to even raise your hands above your head in fact you weren’t allowed to enjoy the performance as we should have been , it was a fantastic show .

BAT OUT OF HELL NO BAT OUT OF HEAVEN
Amazing production, confusing story but hey WGAS. the music orchestra was incredible, singing voices unfaltering clear and powerful and sang all the well known tracks amazingly well. Would recommend for a fun night out.

BLAST FROM THE PAST
While a bit lacking in energy for an opening night the cast did a fine job with the wonderful songs. Paradise by the Dashboard Light was a standout in every way and Bat could have closed the show as the second half was a bit draggy. We enjoyed the night despite the ban on singing along and can recommend the show to lovers of the music.

DISAPPOINTING
Saw the show on opening night at Wimbledon. The music content is great as you would expect and the choreography good, but voices weren't all strong and some definitely weren't suited to rock - they sounded like soul/blues voices being squeezed into a rock costume - that didn't fit! It seemed like a long show with a very thin plot and dragged on... Great scenes with quirky live camera feed projected on screen, but unfortunately not visible to those in the upper circle who missed most of it. Definitely NOT one of my favourites.

DISAPPOINTED
Been to many musicals over the years and this is the 1st when you’re not allowed to sing!!! What’s the point in that?? Musicals are all about singing along and enjoying the show, so hard trying not to sing to the iconic songs of meatloaf- he’ll be turning in his grave right now!!! Also should be stating this when booking !!!

GLEE COVERS MEATLOAF
People are easily pleased judging by the rave reviews - zero story & zero respect to the amazing vocal talent that was Meatloaf. They tried sure enough but to me as a lifelong fan, it failed to meet the mark.
Nia Evans from Liverpool,
WHAT A BORING EXPERIENCE
I have never attended a musical where singing and dancing was banned by the cast and, theatre staff. We were made to feel like criminals for standing up to dance and showing our appreciation of the music. How can you honestly sit down and not enjoy Meatloaf's music?! Would not attend again nor recommend Liverpool Empire Theatre.

BAT OUT OF HELL
I was really looking forward to this but was really disappointed. Acting was awful, choreography bad, no storyline. Most songs were not meatloaf never heard of them it was more like high school musical with school drama kids.
Dee from Liverpool,
LEFT AS SOON AS WE COULD
Hated every second of the first interval, awful story, left as soon as we could, it’s ruined meatloafs music for me for life. Drove from oxford to liverpool to see it, waste of money.

EPIC Operatic experience
Bat Out of Hell revs you harder than a Harley Davidson
What we thought of Bat Out of Hell in London, 2017:A high-octane thrill ride, this epic stage adaptation of the already fairly epic album(s) is utterly irresistible.
